For three years, Gro Ellen has been running a holiday camp in Vang i Valdres, about 250 km from Oslo, Norway.

A year ago, it successfully withstood the influx of foreign tourists who visited the cold Nordic country, but this year it is overloaded, because outside any forecast the number of tourists has multiplied.

- Mye stress! (Too much stress!), - says Ellen (Elen), implying that domestic tourism is even more successful than foreign tourism.

According to her, over 80% of Norwegians have preferred to organize the 4-week summer vacation in their country.

"I never believed that domestic tourism was very profitable ," says Ellen.

Another problem that has been encountered during the last 10 days in Norway is the congestion on the national road, especially in the North of Norway.

The State Highways Authority (Statens Vegvesen) has called on drivers to avoid national roads as much as possible and to travel on secondary roads, where the flow of cars is lower.

Last weekend national roads in northern Norway were almost blocked, causing long queues.

"If you want to travel north, air, rail and sea transport is safer and takes you to your destination faster than your vehicle," Statens Vegvesen said in a statement to drivers.

Every 30 minutes all radio stations, national and local, report tunnel blockages, and recommend drivers where to go to avoid the influx.

"Norway is a country that offers a wonderful panorama," said Erna Solberg, the Norwegian prime minister.
