Diaspora registration for the May 11 parliamentary elections closed at 00:00 on March 5. A total of 294,155 requests were registered from voters outside Albania to vote on May 11.

231,684 requests have been approved by the Central Election Commission, while requests have been rejected for 41,961 voters. Meanwhile, according to data from the CEC, there are 20,510 requests under review, for which the Central Election Commission has 5 days to review them.

The preliminary list with name, surname, county where the vote is going and the state the envelope comes from will be published on March 9. Only those who are in the system and have inaccuracies in the register have 48 hours to request changes.

As for the districts where voters from abroad will vote, Tirana has the highest number of approved requests. Tirana is also the district that produces the highest number of mandates, a full 37 mandates. Fier is the second district with the highest number of voters from abroad, followed by Durrës, Elbasan, Korça, Vlora, Shkodra, Berat, Lezha, Dibra, Gjirokastra and Kukës.

Thus concludes a historic process that for the first time paves the way for the diaspora to vote in our country. Registration began on January 11 and closed on March 4.
